FAQ

FAQ

Q: What if I miss the application deadline? Can I apply later?

A: Sorry - Coven Cabaret applications close at midnight on April 30th, 2020, so make sure to get yours in before then!

Q: If I submit an application, will I be automatically accepted to perform in the show?
A: We try to accept as many as we can, but we do have limited spots. There is no formal adjudication process for this show; it’s first-come, first served! To maximize the chance you’ll get in, please ensure you have followed the instructions for submitting your application, and in particular that you give a good description of the idea for your piece. Incomplete applications may require you to answer follow up questions.

Q: What is the application fee for?

A: The $10 application fee is a non-refundable processing fee set up to support the administration of the show.

Q: Are you accepting applications for aerial or other kinds of performances?

A: Pole is the only apparatus in this show as it’s a celebration of pole artists! Some props may be allowed. If you have an idea to combine pole dance with another medium in your routine (ie. chair, etc.) please include that information in your application.

Q: I don’t have any experience performing on a pole. Can I apply?

A: Of course! This show is for you!

Q: What experience is required to apply?

A: We do require performers to have taken at minimum 1-2 classes or training sessions per week over the past 3 months. If you don't take classes but train on your own, we ask that you be comfortable with climbs and inversions from the floor. If you aren't sure whether you meet the requirements, please send us an email at [email protected] and we will help you out!

Q: Does my piece have to be finished to apply? Do I have to include a video of my proposed piece with my application?

A: No to both questions, but please feel free to include your social media handle if you have a pole account! And if you don’t have a pole account, we recommend starting one ;).

Q: Is nudity allowed?

A: If you’re submitting in the exotic category, you can go down to pasties & a thong if you want to! Please review our terms and conditions regarding rules regulated by the province.

Q: Do we get a tech run?

A: Yes! You will have a chance to run your piece on the venue stage during the afternoon of the show. You will be able to sign up for a timeslot closer to the show.

Q: Is there a time limit?

A: Yes - 5 minutes per performance.

Q: What is your response to Covid-19?

A: Electra Productions is committed to supporting the health of the broader community. In response to the BC Provincial Health Officer's March 16th, 2020 notice, we are postponing the May 22nd Coven Cabaret until further notice. The LCRB has cancelled all Special Event Permits until at least May 30th, which includes all events of 50 plus people.

We are following updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of Canada's recommendations carefully. We will announce our new date once we feel confident that our show can run safely in the community.
